BSCI – Social Standard

BSCI – the Business Social Compliance Initiative

As a shoe manufacturer, Stuco AG works in an environment that is unfortunately far too often associated with negative social excesses, such as child labour, the discrimination of women, the neglect of safety standards, etc. Even though our business is in Europe and we also manufacture our products here, we undertake every effort to prevent these extremely negative developments in our production chain. BSCI is a cross-industry, European initiative of retail companies and import-oriented producers.

As a member of the Global Compact initiated by former United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan, the BSCI, and thus Stuco, undertakes to accept a standard code of conduct that is based on the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the fundamental principles of the ILO on workers’ rights, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the removal of any form of discrimination against women.

The practical implementation of the code of conduct is regularly checked by independent auditors assigned by Social Accountability International. Furthermore, additional reviews by BSCI and training measures help the suppliers to improve their social performance.
